EDDIE THOMPSON TRIO

"The Bosendorfer Concert 1980"

This new collection is the second meeting of Eddie with the wonderful Bosendorfer Imperial piano in a live concert setting. This instrument gave Eddie freedom to range over the most delicate phrasing to deep cavernous rumbling bass notes he absolutely loved. His choice of tunes includes some hallowed favourites but also some a little less familiar like Johnny Griffin's blues "The JAMFs are Coming" and Antonio Jobim's "Corcovado" which he deconstructs and reassembles with some astounding tempo changes. He cannot be considered one of the jazz piano innovators but his energy and rich imagination inform all his performances and mark him out as a major artiste.

He died aged 61 when there should have been many years of great music still to come.

Titles - On Green Dolphin Street / The JAMFs are Coming / Baubles, Bangles and Beads / Corcovado / Autumn Nocturne / Satin Doll / Robbins Nest / Sweet Georgia Brown.

Price includes postage & packaging per order: £14.99
